This beautiful steel table was based on a magazine being used for a display table. The concept developed and grew from just a small sketch a genius idea.
Creating the Prototype
Each ‘page’ was sheared to a particular size which had been carefully decided by the artist, using 1.2mm aluminium sheets. They were manipulated using manual rollers, then folded where necessary using our Amada CNC machinery to achieve the desired appearance of an open book.
Once the client was happy with the final form that each piece held, we assembled them together. The pages were secured to a strong, supportive structure made from hollow steel tubes and a sheet of 2mm aluminium steel.
Working with the Artist
Freshlook helped develop the artists concept of a magazine coffee table into a production reality. It was a pleasure to be involved with this unique collection and we enjoyed working with an inspiring sculptor. The table started to take form after being laser cut, folded and rolled. Aluminium sheets were used to create this elegant coffee table in the style of an open magazine.
